Dave Wright to relocate to bigger dealership

CEDAR RAPIDS - Dave Wright Auto plans to build and relocate to a larger dealership.

'We've significantly outgrown our space,” said dealership owner Dave Wright. 'Both on the sales and the services side.”

Wright has owned and operated the Nissan and Subaru dealership and service center, 1900 51st St. NE, since 2005.

Wright said he still has a few loose ends to tie up, including moving a gas line, but he hopes to open the new dealership, which will be on the southeast corner of Center Point Rd. and Boyson Rd., by July 2015.

The seven acre lot will provide about twice as much space, he said.

The business has seen double-digit sales growth during the past few years, Wright said, adding that the service and parts department has also experienced a growth.

However, he hasn't been able to build an addition or hire new employees because he has run out of space.

'This will enhance the customer and the employee experience,” he said. 'I think the growth can continue, the products are performing well on the market.”

When Wright bought the new lot, he also purchase nine homes that sat on it. All but one home have since been demolished. The Hiawatha Fire Department will use the final home for fire practice on Saturday and Sunday.
