Curtis Miller, 30, of West Branch, was sentenced this morning to 50 years in prison.
He was convicted by a jury in April of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in the death of his 3-month-old daughter, Kimisha Miller. Kimisha died Oct. 11, 2007, as a result of rotational or inflicted head trauma.
Gazette reporter Trish Mehaffey will provide live coverage of the sentencing at 10 a.m. today from Linn County District Court.
Miller was charged with first-degree murder, but the jury chose the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter, which has a penalty of 10 years in prison. Child endangerment carries a term of 50 years.
