Crews respond to fire at abandoned building north of Mt. Vernon
Firefighters put out a blaze at an abandoned building at around 3:15 p.m. at 1283 Hoosier Road.
Lisbon Fire Chief Joe Long said the landowner had planned to demolish the building someday soon, but that the person hired for that job may have started it without getting the necessary permit.
The Lisbon, Mount Vernon and Martelle Fire Departments all came to the rural road to extinguish the blaze. Long said nobody was injured.
The Linn County' Sheriff's Office was contacted about the incident but was not immediately available to comment.
