Crews extinguish smoky house fire in Marion
MARION – Smoke filled a house Monday morning in Marion before firefighters arrived to fix the problem.
Crews were called around 5:45 a.m. to 2385 Stratford Lane. They found a small fire in the basement.
The home owner, Rebeka Berstler, was in the house and got out safely when she heard smoke alarms, authorities said.
District Fire Chief Doug Wyman said there was minor fire damage, but the smoke wafted throughout the two-story home. Investigators determined an air-to-air exchanger motor was the source of the fire.
