Crews douse Iowa City apartment fire; one family displaced
UPDATE: One family is expected to be displaced after fire broke out at an Iowa City apartment building Wednesday.
Crews were called around 6:55 a.m. to Pheasant Ridge apartments at 2401 Bartelt Road. Lt. Scott Goolsby said the fire originated in a bedroom and was quickly extinguished. No one was injured.
“We had about 20 or so people standing outside here in the cold when we arrived,” Goolsby said.
Goolsby said the fire was contained to the bedroom. The residents were back inside by 8 a.m.
Officials were investigating what caused the fire. The American Red Cross was on the scene to provide assistance to the affected family.
