Crews battle Solon house fire
Fire fighters believe a lawn mower may have started a Solon house fire late this morning.
Assistant Solon Fire Chief Scoff Wolfe said calls about "thick black smoke" started coming in around 11:30. By noon firefighters had knocked down the blaze at 412 Windam Drive. Fire departments from Ely, North Liberty and Iowa City responded to the fire.
No one was injured in the fire, but it did cause significant damage to the front of the home and two cars parked in the driveway.
