CR middle school students named to NEIBA Honor Band

Thirty-five students from the Cedar Rapids school district were selected for the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association (NEIBA) Middle School Honor Band.
The students were selected from more than 430 applicants to represent Cedar Rapids at the district honor band festival tomorrow. The festival will feature two bands selected of 135 members each. The concert will be held at 5 p.m. at Oelwein High School.
The following students were selected from each middle school:
Franklin– Eight grade students: Elena Burke, flute; Jasmin Ripoll and Katie Karamitros, clarinet; Kellie Walters, french horn; Macey Coppess, and Sally Timko, trumpet; Kendall Countryman, trombone; M.J. Kamin, percussion. Beth Sheldon, Valerie Shanley and Marty Clancey, directors.
Harding– Eighth grade students: Laura Fischer and Michael Kegel, French Horn; Grace Ridnour, flute; Elizabeth Staley, Trombone. Seventh grade students: Amy Wacker, flute. Jared Wacker and Connie Adams, directors.
McKinley– Eighth grade students: Brinkley Wright, clarinet; Masen Akers bass clarinet; Eric Carson, French horn; Elijah Wolter, trumpet and Jonah Shah, percussion. Elizabeth Driskell and Doreen Anderson, directors.
Roosevelt– Eighth grade students: Aaron Jencks, flute; Bryan Garduño, tenor saxophone; Trey Hill, baritone saxophone. Seventh grade students: Kylie Goldberg, clarinet; Grant Barton, bass clarinet. Kristin Beatty, director.
Taft– Eighth grade students: Aria Polglaze-Carter and Hannah Soper, flute; Daniel Nguyen, clarinet; Mariah Hunter, bass clarinet; David Pauls, Brant Varo and Samantha Phillips, trumpet; Emily Jonas and Nate Weger, trombone; Erica Lorenzo, baritone. Randy Atkinson and Bob Manson, directors.
Wilson– Eighth grade students: Lexis Stewart and Machaley, clarinet. Mary Bunn, director.
