Couple killed when train strikes SUV in Cedar County

MECHANICSVILLE – A married couple was killed when a train struck a sport-utility vehicle in Cedar County early this morning, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Authorities say Dean Bohr, 82, and Marianne Bohr, 76, both of Mechanicsville were killed after their vehicle stopped on the railroad crossing and was struck by at Union Pacific train. Troopers say the reason the vehicle stopped on the railroad tracks is unknown.
The incident, which remains under investigation, happened near Highway 30 on the western edge of Mechanicsville.
