CEDAR RAPIDS - Ann Poe, who won a seat on the Cedar Rapids City Council in November, has been named executive director of the NewBo City Market, an official announced Tuesday night.
“Ann's experience in the public and private sectors makes her uniquely qualified for this community-based market,” said Patrick DePalma, president of the board of directors.
Groundbreaking for the year-round NewBo City Market is slated for April on Third Street SE in the heart of the New Bohemia arts and entertainment district.
Poe worked for three years after the Flood of 2008 as the Rebuild Iowa Office's community liaison in Cedar Rapids. She's also served as development director at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, and she was there in 1995 to help persuade President Bill Clinton and the presidents of the Czech Republic and Slovakia to come to town for its dedication.
