A Coralville mother faces six counts of endangerment after police said they found six minor children living in her residence in unsanitary and unhealthy conditions.
Debra K. Honts, 54, of 1426 Westview Dr., was charged Wednesday with six counts of endangerment/no injury, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison and a $6,250 fine.
Coralville police were dispatched to her residence on June 20 for a report of suspicious activity, Lt. Shane Kron said. They found living conditions that presented a substantial risk to the physical, emotional and mental health and safety of the children, according to the police reports.
The children are no longer living in the home, Kron said.
Honts was released on her own recognizance this morning from the Johnson County Jail.
