Coralville considers limiting public comments

CORALVILLE - We had a story out of Coralville in today's paper that should be of interest to that town's residents and city hall watchers in general.
The council voted 3-2 to draw up documents to limit public comments. If approved, the public would be allowed to address the council only two times on the same issue.
The council's relationship with the public is not a new issue. In fact, it's come up during the current council election.
John Lundell and Mitch Gross cast the dissenting votes.
Apparently, the topic came up because a resident has continually addressed the council since June on a rent dispute he is having with the city and a landscaping business.
Just to be clear: I was not at the council meeting. (I covered the school board meeting.) Also, I couldn't find the story online, so if you want more information, pick up a Gazette and turn to Pg. 6A.
