The Johnson County Sheriff's Department has filed multiple charges against a Conesville man authorities said was intoxicated during a high-speed chase in November.
Robin D. Wyckoff, 43, was driving down the center of the roadway at 108 miles per hour on Wapsi Avenue in Lone Tree around 8 p.m. Nov. 19 when a deputy tried to pull his vehicle over. Instead of stopping, Wyckoff sped up, according to criminal complaints.
Authorities said Wyckoff was traveling more than 25 miles above the posted speed limit before crashing on 220th Avenue in Louisa County.
Wyckoff had extremely bloodshot watery eyes, smelled strongly of alcohol, displayed poor balance and was slurring his words, according to the complaint.
Authorities said he refused to take both a sobriety and Breathalyzer test before he was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of injuries.
While being treated, Wyckoff threatened emergency room staff, yelled vulgar words at one employee and said he was going to kick them in the head when was released, according to the complaint.
Wyckoff was charged with eluding, harassment and second-offense operating while intoxicated.
He was charged with drunken driving in Missouri in 1999, according to the complaint.
Wyckoff was in the Johnson County Jail Wednesday on a $6,000 cash-only bond.
