IOWA CITY - The Johnson County statutory committee tasked with determining how to fill Supervisor Terrence Neuzil's soon to be vacant seat on the Board of Supervisors will meet early next month.
The committee, which consists of Auditor Travis Weipert, Recorder Kim Painter and Treasurer Tom Kriz, will meet at 10 a.m. Dec. 2 in the Betty Sass Conference Room at the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque St.
The meeting is open to the public and public comment is welcome, according to a county news release.
The committee will choose to appoint a supervisor or conduct a special election to fill the seat left vacant by Neuzil, who announced Friday his resignation to take a county administrator job in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Neuzil's last day will be Dec. 20.
Even if the committee chooses to appoint a supervisor, a public petition could force a special election.
The new supervisor will be up for vote in next November's election, as well as the June primary.
