College Republicans to air ads in Cedar Rapids market

With potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates visiting college campuses in Iowa, the College Republican National Committee will be running an ad targeted to college-age audiences beginning next week.
The ad, “What's Your Pan?,” will run on broadcast and cable TV, including heavily in the Cedar Rapids market, according to Rob Lockwood of the College Republican National Committee. The primarily targeted demographic is 18-29-year-old students.
The ad focuses on the interest on the national debt. It is projected to be about $5.5 trillion The ad also mocks also mocks Obama's “winning the future” slogan.
The ad challenges viewers with a call to action to ask all the candidates specifically “What is your plan to reduce the debt?”
The ad is upbeat, energetic and doesn't play on fear., Lockwood said “Rather is serves as a motivational call. In addition, it also is loaded with pop culture references and a synthesized soundtrack.”
The ad is Iowa specific, he added.
College Republicans are motivated by the fact Seeing that the national youth vote shifted significantly against the Democrats in 2010, Obama's loss of support amongst celebs - Matt Damon, P. Diddy, Will.I.Am, who have denounced his leadership, Lockwood said.
“No youth group has ever gone on air like this to insert our generation's voice into the discourse,” he said.
