CEDAR RAPIDS - Coe College announced Friday afternoon that head women's basketball coach Randi Henderson has resigned to take an assistant coaching position at Division I Charlotte.
Henderson will work with former University of Iowa teammate Cara Consuegra, who has been head coach at Charlotte for four seasons. Henderson is married to former Iowa men's player Duez Henderson.
'Coe College and the community here have been a blessing to Duez and my life,” Henderson said. 'I have thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the growth of the women's basketball program. I will miss this place very much, but feel the opportunity I am pursuing at North Carolina-Charlotte is a great next step for us,” she said in a press release.
Henderson led Coe to a pair of Iowa Conference championships (2010-11), and the school won the IIAC tournament under her watch in 2011 and 2012 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III national tournament both of those years.
'We wish Randi well in her new coaching opportunity,” Coe Athletics Director John Chandler said in a release. 'With two Iowa Conference championships and two trips to the NCAA Tournament, Randi elevated our program to one of the best in the Iowa Conference.”
Henderson compiled a 155-91 record in nine seasons at Coe, the highest win total by any coach at the school, male or female.
