Clinton police launch homicide probe after fatal fire

Clinton police say they are conducting a homicide investigation into the deaths of a mother and her 2-year-old son whose bodies were found after an apartment fire.
Capt. Randy Meier says the homicide investigation was opened as a result of autopsies on 22-year-old Angel Herman and her son, Cyrus Shoup. Authorities found their bodies in the back of their apartment early Wednesday.
The fire was contained to Herman's apartment, but a dozen other families at the complex were evacuated because of the smoke.
