CEDAR RAPIDS - The Clarion Hotel and Convention Center plans to remain open as the business is sold at a sheriff's auction.
'What's going to happen is the bank will buy the hotel back, we'll be operating as usual. Nothing is changing at this point in time,” said Jackie Oliver, the Clarion's director of sales.
The hotel filed for bankruptcy in August of 2014. The auction will satisfy a $4.5 million mortgage default.
Managers said they're still accepting room reservations and all events at the convention center will happen as scheduled.
