City Hall needs applicants for its Long Range Planning Commission
Dec. 4, 2009 12:47 pm
Council members Kris Gulick and Monica Vernon said this week that the City Council needs more people to apply for a seat on the Long Term Planning Commission.
The City Charter calls for the council to appoint the commission every three years to develop a long-term plan with recommended goals and objectives for the city. The 20-member commission is to consist of at least 15 members from Cedar Rapids - one of whom is the mayor - with others coming from the Cedar Rapids regional community. The commission has six months to do its work and to report to the council. The first commission was named in 2006.
For those interested in joining the commission, applications are due in City Hall on Dec. 22. Please call 286-5080 for information.
