DAVENPORT - Chris Paul's fourth hit of the game, a two-out single in the 10th inning, scored the winning run and gave the Cedar Rapids Kernels a 3-2 win over Quad Cities in Midwest League baseball Sunday afternoon.
The Kernels are 4-0 heading into a three-game series at Kane County that begins Monday night.
LaMonte Wade walked with one out in the 10th, then losing relief pitcher Ralph Garza Jr. hit Max Murphy with a pitch. After a flyout, Paul lined a pitch to center field to score Wade.
Nick Anderson (1-0) pitched out of a two-on, none-out jam in the bottom of the inning to get the win. He allowed a run in the bottom of the ninth that sent the game to extras.
The teams each scored runs in the sixth and ninth innings. Starting pitcher Sam Clay allowed five hits and a run, striking out seven in six good innings.
C.K. Irby followed with two shutout relief frames for Cedar Rapids. Wade went 2-for-3 with a triple and two walks.
Before the game, the Kernels and parent Minnesota Twins announced a pair of player movers. Right-handed pitchers Miles Nordgren and Cody Stashak have been added to the active roster from Twins extended spring training.
Stashak, 21, pitched last season at Rookie-level Elizabethton, going 5-2 with a 3.43 earned run average in 10 starts. He was a 13th-round draft pick of the Twins last June out of St. John's University in New York.
Nordgren, 23, threw in six games last season for the Kernels, accumulating a 2.23 ERA in 44 innings. He also pitched for Elizabethton, going 1-3 with a 2.76 ERA in 11 starts.
He was a 23rd-round draft pick of the Twins in 2014 out of Birmingham-Southern.
