Police revealed Thursday that 52 pounds of marijuana was found in a southwest Cedar Rapids home last month.
Geramie J. Hardaway, 32, of 3214 Bramble Rd. SW, was formally charged this week with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and a drug tax stamp violation.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said officers found Hardaway with marijuana twice in a 10-day span. On Nov. 30, he was at 2545 Edgewood Rd. SW with 42.5 grams of marijuana. Then, on Dec. 9, a search warrant revealed a much larger stash at Hardaway's residence on Bramble Road.
According to a criminal complaint, Hardaway had several packages of marijuana, a drug pipe, baggies, a scale and cash in his house.
Hamblin said Hardaway was not immediately arrested because of the ongoing investigation about the drugs found.
"They were trying to determine if they were going to go for bigger fish, or if he was the big fish," Hamblin said. "We're always looking for the big fish."
Hardaway, who was awaiting trial for a previous felony drug arrest in August, was arrested Tuesday evening when he came to the Police Department for questioning. He was taken to the Linn County Jail, and was released after posting a bond of $13,650.
