CEDAR RAPIDS – A woman died last last week from injuries she suffered in a motorcycle collision last month.
Janet Ritchart, 52, of Center Point, died on Thursday after she was thrown from a motorcycle on June 10 – her birthday, according to her obituary.
Ritchart was a passenger on a motorcycle, driven by John Conner, 49, of Cedar Rapids, that struck a black Dodge Caliber pulling out across Williams Blvd. from the Highway 30 exit ramp, according to the Linn County sheriff's office.
Ritchart was taken to Mercy Hospital, but later transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, and Conner was taken to Mercy with non-life threatening injuries.
Neither Ritchart nor Conner were wearing helmets.
The driver of the Caliber, 24-year-old Allison Beltz, of Marion, was uninjured in the collision. She received citations for failure to yield while entering a thorough highway and for having no proof of insurance.
A motorcycle rests on the shoulder of Williams Blvd near the Highway 30 ramp on Friday, June 10, after it collided with the black Dodge Caliber. (Jim Malewitz/SourceMedia Group News).
