Center Point officials repairing Lewis Access Road

Center Point inherited Lewis Access Road, the northbound route off Interstate 380, from Linn County in the late 1990s.
Today, workers are repairing the road, which is pocked with jarring little pot holes on both lanes from I-380 to the Casey's at the corner with North Center Point Road.
The county expanded the road in the 1990s to put in a turning lane that serves the truck stop with the green dinosaur out front.
Steve Winger, city administrator in Center Point, said the city wants to replace the road in the next year, using a combination of local option sales tax dollars and perhaps a federal earmark.
The project will cost about $2 million, Winger said.
