Cedar Rapids Xavier to officially honor state championship boys' basketball team Wednesday
CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids Xavier will honor its 2016 boys' state championship basketball team during a ceremony that is open to the public Wednesday afternoon.
The school is holding an assembly recognizing its spring activities at 2:10 p.m. at Ron Thillen Gymnasium. An official reception and trophy presentation for the basketball team is included in the assembly.
Xavier overcame a six-game losing streak at the end of the regular season to win six consecutive postseason games, including a Class 3A championship-game victory over two-time champion Dubuque Wahlert.
