A woman who defrauded her former employer out of more than $100,000 was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to more than four years in prison.
Sarah Ann Godsey, 33, of Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud, one count of access device fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft in March.
According to the plea agreement, Godsey admitted she used her employer's checking account without permission by forging her supervisor's signature on checks and making unapproved electronic transfers. She also used credit cards belonging to her supervisors without her supervisors' approval and used another person's name, date of birth, and Social Security number as part of her credit card fraud.
At sentencing, the court found Godsey abused a position of private trust and obstructed justice during the course of the investigation of her criminal conduct.
Along with the prison time, Godsey was ordered to pay $120,189 in restitution.
