CEDAR RAPIDS — Motorists should soon expect some delays along a portion of Eighth Street NE in Cedar Rapids.
Weather depending, a construction project is expected to begin next week along Eighth Street between First Avenue E and A Avenue NE. The stretch of road is a busy connector from downtown Cedar Rapids to Interstate 380.
As part of the city’s Paving for Progress road improvement program, crews will resurface Eighth Street NE and replace curbs and gutters within the project area. Completion is scheduled for early October.
At least one lane of traffic will remain open for the entirety of the project, and access will remain in place for the I-380 on- and off-ramps, per a city-issued project description. Still, motorists can expect some delays depending on the time of day and traffic flow.
