LINCOLN, Neb. — There was good and bad Friday night for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
The bad was they saw their six-game win streak snapped by the Lincoln Stars, 3-2, at the arena affectionately known as 'The Icebox.' The good was that loss came in a shootout, meaning the Riders picked up another standings point.
Sixth shooter Ethen Frank beat goaltender Ben Blacker to end the elongated shootout, 2-1. Hugh McGing was the only successful shooter for Cedar Rapids.
Ross Colton scored both of C.R.'s goals, making it an even 30 this season. He is just the fourth player in franchise history to hit that mark, joining Jayson Megna, Chad Costello and Jacob Cepis.
Cepis' 34 in the 2006-07 season is the club record.
Colton's second goal came 35 seconds into the second period. Lincoln tied the game with goals exactly three minutes apart later in the period.
The RoughRiders are 34-12-4 for 72 points, six up on Dubuque, Green Bay and Bloomington, all of whom share second overall and in the Eastern Division. Cedar Rapids hosts Dubuque on Saturday night at 7:05.
Lincoln is first in the Western Division with 63 standings points.
