Cedar Rapids roads closed due to ice jams
An ice jam on the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids has caused river levels to increase.
As a result, Fish Ct SW off Old River Rd SW and Manhattan Park off Ellis Blvd NW are closed today, as is Ellis Road NW from Edgewood Road to F Avenue/Covington Road.
A hole in the ice jam between the Edgewood Road Bridge and the 5 in 1 dam has occurred, so the water level downstream of the bridge is dropping in Manhattan Park, public works maintenance manager Craig Hanson says.
However, because of another ice jam up river from the Edgewood Road Bridge, water is on the road and rising on Ellis Road west of Edgewood Road NW, Hanson says.
