Cedar Rapids police investigating shooting motivated by road rage

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting that happened Monday night.

The shooting occurred in the 800 block of 15th Street SE around 10 p.m., according to a news release from the police department.

The driver and passenger in the vehicle being shot at were headed south on 15th Street SE. They reported that a white SUV with an unknown number of occupants started to pass them and opened fire.

The driver of the targeted vehicle told police the shooting may have been motivated by a road rage incident.

The 22-year-old driver and 25-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
