Cedar Rapids police investigating bank robbery

CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids police responded to a late afternoon bank robbery Thursday and are continuing to look for a suspect.
According to a Cedar Rapids police media release, officers were called to the scene of U.S. Bank at 129 16th Avenue SW at 4:14 p.m. There, from information gleaned from the scene, they determined that a lone individual had entered the bank, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash. The suspect then left on foot. Witnesses told police the suspect took off to the north toward CJ's Bar & Grille in the Czech Village.
Officers told reporters they went inside the bar where they didn't find the suspect. They continued to search the area for possible leads, knocking on doors in the neighborhood.
No injuries were reported from the incident, according to the release.
The robbery continues to be under investigation by the Cedar Rapids police, who have no more information to report at this time.
