Cedar Rapids Police Investigating 2nd Bank Robbery in 3 Days
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Police responded to the U.S. Bank in the 100 block of 16th Avenue SW around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon for a report of a robbery.
Investigators say a black man wearing a black hoodie and mask over his face entered the bank and displayed a handgun. He demanded cash and left the bank on foot, according to a release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department. Authorities say the suspect was also wearing bluejeans and blue gloves.
This incident comes only days after officers responded to the U.S. Bank branch at 2350 Edgewood Road SW. Police say someone robbed that bank at 9 a.m. Monday. Authorities said Monday's suspect did not show a weapon but also left on foot.
In an email, Cedar Rapids Public Safety Communications Coordinator Greg Buelow said both cases were active investigations, but detectives hadn't indicated if the two robberies were connected.
