Cedar Rapids police arrest man with knives near Kennedy High School

CEDAR RAPIDS — Police arrested an 18-year-old man Wednesday for carrying knives near Kennedy High School.
According to a news release, shortly after 9 a.m. neighbors notified police of a suspicious person in the parking lot of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene at 3000 42nd Street NE.
Officers arrested Grant Ajango, 18, of Cedar Rapids and took him to the Linn County Jail. Police said Ajango did not make any specific threats toward a person or group.
Authorities at Kennedy High School locked all exterior doors as a security precaution.
Carrying weapons is a serious misdemeanor.
