Cedar Rapids officer responding to call crashes into pole near Taco Bell

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids police officer suffered minor injuries after an unmarked police vehicle struck a utility pole near the Taco Bell on First Avenue NE.
According to Greg Buelow, Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman, shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday officers were responding to a foot chase 'involving a suspect who committed a theft from Kohl's” when an unmarked police vehicle crashed into the pole at the intersection of First Avenue and Seventh Street NE.
One officer sustained minor injuries from the incident, according to Buelow.
Buelow said the incident remains under investigation.
