CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man who sold 'high-grade” marijuana in this area was sentenced Monday to nine months in federal prison.
Tyler Scheer, 26, pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
Scheer admitted during the plea hearing that he agreed with others to sell marijuana in the Cedar Rapids area from August 2012 through April 2013. According to court documents, Scheer sold or possessed with intent to sell more than 24 pounds of marijuana over the course of the conspiracy. Scheer sold over $85,000 worth of the marijuana valued at about $3,450 per pound.
U.S. District Chief Judge Linda Reade sentenced Scheer to nine months and fined him $3,000. He also must serve a three-year term of supervised release after his prison time.
Scheer was released on the bond previously set and will report to the Bureau of Prisons on a future date.
