Nov. 8, 2017 3:49 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man who distributed child pornography has been sentenced in federal court to 17 years in prison.
Scott Ristine, 40, pleaded guilty in July to one count of distribution of child pornography. During the plea hearing, Ristine admitted he knowingly distributed child pornography in 2015. The plea agreement shows Ristine possessed 175 videos and 350 images of child pornography.
Ristine also admitted he was convicted of receiving child pornography in 2002. He was sentenced in 2002 to more than two years in prison and his supervised release following his prison time was revoked in 2009 and 2010, which added an extra 15 months to the sentence.
U.S. District Senior Judge Linda Reade also ordered Ristine in this conviction to serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison time. He must also comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Cedar Rapids Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
