Cedar Rapids man struck, killed by car on First Avenue East

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 71-year-old man was killed in a car-pedestrian crash on First Avenue East Friday night.
According to a Cedar Rapids police report, the man was attempting to cross First Avenue East from the south side to the north side, near the Crescent Street intersection, when he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Britney Marx, 26, of Marion.
Responding officers found the man in the street. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Marx was not injured in the crash. No charges have been filed, police said.
The man was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck, according to police.
