Police said a man was stabbed early Sunday morning when he asked two women to help him with a flat tire.
According to a police report, Ryan Parris, 27, of Davenport, was driving back to his hotel when one of his tires went flat in the area of Third Avenue and 10th Street SE. Parris told police he asked two women that were walking by for help.
Parris told officers the women started yelling at him and approached him while his back was turned. He initially thought a woman had punched him on the right side of his back, but he turned around and saw the woman holding a knife, police said.
Parris took off running and the women walked away toward First Avenue East, he said. He said he did not know the women and did not know what provoked them.
Officers caught up to Parris just before 3 a.m. as he was getting treatment for the non-life threatening stab wound at Mercy Medical Center.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (319) 286-5491.
