A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Wednesday when he went to a fire station and asked for help to find his dog, police said.
Gary R. Jacobi, 74, was intoxicated when he arrived at the Fire Station at 100 Wiley Blvd. SW around 10:30 p.m., police said. He told firefighters that his dog was in a nearby ditch and he needed help to find it.
Police arrested Jacobi when they learned there was a warrant issued for his arrest for failing to appear in court.
It appeared Jacobi had driven to the fire station while he was intoxicated, but he was not charged with operating while intoxicated because no one witnessed him driving, police said. His car was towed from the fire station.
