Cedar Rapids man pleads guilty to assaulting officer with chain

A man who whipped a police officer with a chain in August pleaded guilty Thursday in Linn County District Court.
Everett Lindsay, 32, of Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to assault on a peace officer causing bodily injury and interference with official acts with injury.
Lindsay assaulted officer Robert Boyer, 39, at 3010 Williams Blvd. SW, on Aug. 11 as Boyer was responding to a suspicious person report. Lindsay swung a chain and padlock at Boyer, causing minor injuries to his head.
