CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man was one number away from winning a share of Wednesday night's world-record Powerball jackpot, lottery officials said, and will have to settle for $50,000 before taxes instead.
Lottery officials Friday identified the Cedar Rapids prize winner as Gibram Madrid Sanchez, who bought the ticket at the Guppy's On The Go convenience store at 1532 Ellis Blvd. NW.
He could not be reached for comment after he came forward Friday to claim the $50,000 prize.
Officials said his ticket matched four numbers and the Powerball. If it had matched all the numbers, he would have shared in a nearly $1.6 billion jackpot.
