Cedar Rapids man hurt in Blairs Ferry Road motorcycle crash

Authorities said a Cedar Rapids man was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle on a curve Monday afternoon near Hiawatha.

Timmy L. Yancey, 47, was westbound on Blairs Ferry Road around 4 p.m. when he crashed near Waterhouse Lane, according to the Linn County sheriff's office. Yancey, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off the motorcycle and onto the pavement.

Yancey was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids with injuries that did not appear life threatening, deputies said. There was no immediate word on the severity of his injuries.

Yancey was cited for failure to maintain control, no insurance and violating conditions of a restricted license.
