Cedar Rapids man charged after firing shots at unoccupied car

Darterio R.L. Johnson fired a handgun at an occupied car early Sunday in southeast Cedar Rapids, striking it three times, police said.
No one was hurt in the incident at Second Avenue and 14th Street SE, where police responded about 4:45 a.m. The victims, two women age 17 and 21, told officers they were in their car when another car pulled alongside and someone inside began firing, police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said.
The women knew one of the other car's occupants, and other witnesses provided descriptions matching Johnson's. He was arrested shortly after the incident.
Meisha Walker, 17 of Cedar Rapids and Pierra Baugh, 21 of Cedar Rapids, were in their car at at Second Avenue and 14th Street SE when subjects in another car pulled up beside them began firing at her car which was struck three times. They knew one of the subjects. Victims and other witnesses gave a description of the suspects.
Officers found one of the subjects, Darterio Johnson, 19, of 4106 Wilson Ave SW #4, at 1215 2 Ave SE. He was eventually arrested for intimidation with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. He went to the Linn County Jail.
Johnson, 19, of 4106 Wilson Ave. SW, remains in the Linn County Jail in lieu of $23,500 cash bail. He is charged with intimidation with a weapon and carrying weapons.
