CEDAR RAPIDS - A 23-year-old Cedar Rapids man is accused of two counts of assault causing injury after authorities say he struck two University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics employees on July 7, 2010.
Reports indicate that on the above date, Dwane J. Hudson, of 4881 First Avenue SW Apt. C, allegedly struck a male UIHC employee an unknown number of times on the left side of the head.
University of Iowa Department of Public Safety reports indicate that the incident occurred after the man had come into Hudson's room to prepare the bed. The man allegedly received a concussion and short-term memory loss due to his injuries.
A female nurse that was conducting room checks was also allegedly hit as Hudson walked down the unit's hallway. The nurse was noted in reports as having her lip cut open.
On July 14, 2010, a warrant was issued for Hudson's arrest.
Hudson was being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond Thursday morning.
Each count of assault causing injury on peace officer/others is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison and a maximum $6,250 fine.
