Cedar Rapids Kernels rebound from loss, topple Kane County, 7-2

GENEVA, Ill. - Miles Nordgren allowed one hit and one run in five innings, as the Cedar Rapids Kernels knocked off Kane County, 7-2, in Midwest League baseball Tuesday afternoon.
Nordgren was sent to Cedar Rapids over the weekend from Minnesota Twins extended spring training. He won his first Midwest League game, striking out two.
Cody Stashak, assigned to the Kernels with Nordgren, finished up for the save in his MWL debut, allowing two hits and a run in four innings.
The Kernels (5-1) rebounded from a 9-0 loss Monday night, scoring twice each in the third and fourth innings. Sean Miller and LaMonte Wade had sacrifice flies in the third, Christian Cavaness a RBI groundout and J.J. Fernandez a run-scoring single in the fourth.
A Jermaine Palacios two-run single highlighted a three-run eighth for Cedar Rapids. Chris Paul was the lone Kernel to have a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 to increase his batting average to .391 in the early going.
The teams conclude their three-game series Wednesday night.
