Cedar Rapids Kernels planning two events as team arrives in town Monday

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Kernels' annual 'Meet The Kernels” night is Tuesday, April 5 at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Midwest League club has announced. The event begins at 5 p.m. and is free to the public, with food and beverage purchases available. The Kernels will mingle with fans from 5:15 to 6:45, with a short program featuring Manager Jake Mauer beginning at 7.
The team then will conduct a short workout, weather permitting.
Kernels players and the coaching staff will arrive in Cedar Rapids on Monday evening from spring training in Fort Myers, Fla., and fans are invited to join the Kernels front-office staff around 6:30 in the Memorial Stadium parking lot for a welcome rally. The team is expected to arrive at the ballpark between 6:30 and 7 p.m.
Fans are asked to park in the upper parking lot of the stadium and walk to the lower lot.
The season opener is Thursday, April 7, at home against the Quad Cities River Bandits.
