Cedar Rapids Kernels lose in walk-off style at Wisconsin, 6-5, in 10 innings

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. - Isan Diaz singled to center with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Carlos Belonis and give the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers a 6-5 walk-off win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Neuroscience Group Field on Thursday night.
Belonis reached on an infield single against losing relief pitcher C.K. Irby (1-1) with one out in the 10th and went to second on a walk. After a strikeout, Diaz delivered his winning hit.
Irby allowed a home run to Mitch Ghelfi leading off the Wisconsin ninth that sent the game to extra innings. Cedar Rapids (18-15) took a 5-4 lead in the seventh when A.J. Murray doubled and eventually scored on a Zander Wiel groundout.
J.J. Fernandez had three hits for Cedar Rapids, which plays Game 2 of the series Friday night at 6:35. Sean Miller and Luis Arraez had two hits apiece.
