Cedar Rapids Kernels fail late, lose in 10 innings to Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - Jesus Lopez singled home Trace Loehr with one out in the 10th inning to give the Beloit Snappers a 2-1 win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field.
Loehr walked leading off the frame against losing relief pitcher Cam Booser (0-1), who joined the club before the game after being activated from the disabled list. Loehr went to second on a groundout and scored on Lopez's line drive to left.
Beloit tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Ryan Howell walked, went to second on a balk call on Kernels reliever Williams Ramirez and scored on a RBI single from Trent Gilbert.
Cedar Rapids (29-22) broke a scoreless tie with a run in the eighth. Nelson Molina walked leading off, was bunted to second and scored on Sean Miller's two-out RBI single.
Starter Sam Clay threw seven one-hit shutout innings for the Kernels but got a no decision. Outfielder LaMonte Wade saw his streak of reaching base via hit or walk stopped at 30 games.
He went 0-for-5. Miller had three hits.
The teams play again Wednesday night at 6:35.
