Cedar Rapids hospital distributes winter gear

CEDAR RAPIDS — A hospital team plans to distribute some 400 items of winter gear to people in need during a meals program Thursday in downtown Cedar Rapids.

The winter gear items were donated by employees at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital and at UnityPoint Clinics in the Cedar Rapids. In total, nearly 400 hats, gloves and scarves were donated, as well as several winter jackets, according to the hospital.

The gear will be distributed during dinner service from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Green Square Meals, 605 Second Ave. SE.

The meals program is asking for donations of hats, gloves, coats, baby wipes, deodorant and hand warmer packets. Donated items can be dropped off at the program from 1 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Visit greensquaremeals.org for other details.
