Cedar Rapids Chipotle opening Friday

Chipotle Mexican Grill, a fast-casual restaurant, will open its Lindale Mall location on Friday.

The restaurant, which is accessible from the food court, will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

This is the second Chipotle location in the Corridor, but the first location in Cedar Rapids.

Chipotle offers burritos, burrito bowls, tacos and salads. It boasts using sustainable ingredients including hormone and antibiotic free meats and local produce, when possible.

Chipotle said in June that it would purchase more than 20 million pounds of local produce.

The national chain is expanding quickly, opening 89 locations in the first six months of 2014. It announced Monday that its revenue increased 28.6 percent in the second quarter of 2014 compared with the same quarter of last year, hitting $1.05 billion.

Chipotle on Monday said it anticipates opening 180 to 195 restaurants in 2014.

Chipotle is the second national restaurant chain to open at Lindale Mall is recent months. Cheddars, which also has a location in Coralville, opened its doors on June 2.
