Car, train collision reported near 42nd Street
A woman escaped serious injury in Cedar Rapids when her car was struck by a train this afternoon in.
It happened just before 12:30 p.m. at the 42nd Street crossing near Interstate 380. Officer Robert Murphy said the woman exited from northbound I-380 and was turning east onto 42nd Street.
"She said she didn't see the lights," Murphy said.
Paramedics were checking the woman at the scene. Murphy said her injuries appeared very minor.
The train pushed the car across to the north side of 42nd Street NE and bent over a road sign in the process.
No other information was immediately available.
