Car hits pedestrian on Blairs Ferry Road

Police said a car struck a pedestrian as she was crossing a busy road Monday morning.
The accident happened around 7:40 a.m. on Blairs Ferry Road NE near Agin Court NE. Sgt. J.D. Verschoore said a car stuck the pedestrian as the driver turned left onto Blairs Ferry Road from 12th Avenue in Hiawatha.
“She evidently didn't see her standing in the street,” Verschoore said.
The pedestrian was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. Her injuries were not considered life threatening, police said.
The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk, although one was about 20 yards from the accident scene.
The driver of the car was not hurt. An investigation was continuing.
